India, Aug. 11 -- The Perseid meteor shower, one of the year's most active and spectacular meteor displays, will peak overnight on August 12-13, 2026, offering skywatchers a chance to see bright meteors and occasional fireballs.

When And Where To Watch The Perseids

The shower will be active from July 17 to August 24. Under ideal conditions, up to 150 meteors per hour could be visible around the peak. For the best chance of seeing the shower, head to a dark location away from city lights and give your eyes at least 15 minutes to adjust to the darkness. A wide, unobstructed view of the sky is ideal, and binoculars or telescopes are not necessary.
