India, Oct. 2 -- Parveen Hooda finally broke through for her maiden Asian Games medal on Friday, October 2, as the 26-year-old boxer clinched gold in the women's 65kg category at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. The Indian put up a determined display against Chinese Taipei's Nien-chin Che in a closely fought gold-medal bout, securing India's second women's boxing gold of the Games.

Parveen made a strong start, dominating the opening round with a 5-0 score. However, her opponent hit back in the second, taking the round 5-0 and levelling the contest. With the gold on the line, Parveen held her nerve in the decisive third round, edging it 3-2 to seal a hard-earned victory and claim the Asian Games title.
