India, June 8 -- In a breathtaking astronomical event, parts of northern India may witness the ethereal beauty of the Northern Lights tonight. Space weather forecasters have issued a strong geomagnetic storm watch for June 8 and June 9, 2026, following a massive solar eruption that is currently hurtling toward Earth. While the aurora borealis is typically confined to high-latitude polar regions, the intensity of this solar event could push the auroral oval far enough south to make the "dancing lights" visible to skywatchers in high-altitude regions of the Himalayas.
