India, Aug. 7 -- Miss North Carolina USA has been stripped of her crown just weeks after winning the title, with organisers citing conduct they said violated the organisation's standards on racism, homophobia and transphobia.

Miss USA Chairman Thom Brodeur did not specify what conduct prompted the decision to remove Brittany Boltinhouse from the role, but said in a statement that the organisation "does not tolerate racism, homophobia, transphobia nor language that strips any person of their dignity," adding that the conduct in question had occurred "over an extended period of time," according to Fox News.
