India, Sept. 28 -- The Asian Games defending champion Avinash Sable will be in action in the men's 3000m steeplechase today, September 28 in what will be the medal event at the Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium in Aichi-Nagoya.

The Indian runner will start in Lane 3, with Japan's Ryuji Miura in Lane 1 and Ryoma Aoki in Lane 2. Miura arrives with the fastest personal best in the field at 8:03.43, while Sable's 8:09.91 remains the second-fastest PB among the finalists.

Sable enters the final as one of India's biggest athletics names. He is the reigning Asian Games champion and holds the Indian national record with a personal best of 8:09.91, set at the Paris Diamond League in July 2024.
