India, May 22 -- NFL money talks louder than ever, and Matthew Stafford is now at the center of it. Fresh off what's being called the first MVP season of his 17-year career, the Los Angeles Rams have locked him in with a one-year, $55 million extension. The deal keeps him with the franchise through 2027 and pushes his remaining compensation to around $105 million, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

If he stays on the field for that 2027 season, Stafford is on track to become the first player in NFL history to reach $500 million in playing salary.
