India, June 5 -- A fresh outbreak of violence in Manipur has left three civilians dead and several homes reduced to ashes following a suspected militant attack in the Kangpokpi district, according to a statement by Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), the body that represents Kuki-Zo tribes in the state. The incident, which occurred early on Friday morning in the village of Mongbung, has further destabilised an already volatile security situation in the state. According to initial reports, armed assailants launched an unprovoked assault on the village, leading to a swift and tragic escalation that prompted a massive response from security forces stationed in the vicinity.
