India, Sept. 23 -- Mirabai Chanu had an impressive resume in weightlifting: an Olympic silver medal, a World Championship gold, World Championship silvers and a stack of Commonwealth Games medals were already sitting in her already overloaded trophy cabinet. There was just one glaring piece of the puzzle which was missing - an Asian Games medal. In Nagoya, the 32-year-old Manipuri weightlifting legend finally completed the set by winning silver in the women's 49kg category at the Asian Games 2026 on Wednesday. Chanu lifted 87kg in the snatch and 111kg in the clean and jerk for a total of 198kg, finishing behind North Korea's Ri Song Gum.
