According to the outage-tracking platform, complaints began rising at around 12:06 p.m. BST (7:06 a.m. ET), with customers saying they were unable to log into online banking, access the mobile app or complete routine banking tasks.

As reports spread, many users also turned to social media to check whether others were experiencing similar problems.
