India, Aug. 21 -- The defence has officially rested its case in the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy at Plymouth Superior Court in Massachusetts, setting the stage for closing arguments in a proceeding that has drawn widespread international attention to the legal boundaries of maternal mental illness. The 36-year-old former labour and delivery nurse stands accused of strangling her three young children, five-year-old Cora, three-year-old Dawson, and eight-month-old Callan, at their Duxbury home in January 2023.

While both sides agree on the physical acts that occurred, the central question before the jury remains whether Clancy was criminally responsible or incapacitated by severe postpartum psychosis.
