India, Oct. 8 -- The KOSPI index fell sharply on Thursday, extending its decline for a third consecutive session as investors remained cautious over global borrowing costs, inflation and foreign fund outflows. The benchmark stood at 6,673.37, down 130.53 points or 1.92%.

Market sentiment was also influenced by the monthly options expiry, which increased volatility and intensified the tug-of-war between buyers and sellers.

Why is KOSPI falling today?

Concerns over higher global interest rates remained a major drag on South Korean equities. The US 10-year Treasury yield rose to 5.35%, its highest level since 2002, increasing pressure on risk-sensitive assets, particularly technology stocks.
