India, Aug. 20 -- A serious collision involving a rolled-over dump truck closed all eastbound lanes of Highway 401 through Cambridge on Wednesday afternoon, sending two people to hospital and triggering hours of gridlock across the Kitchener-Waterloo region during the commuter rush.

The Ministry of Transportation first reported the closure shortly after 2 pm, warning motorists that the eastbound carriageway had been shut just past Highway 8. The Ontario Provincial Police confirmed roughly an hour later that the crash involved three vehicles, including a dump truck that had rolled onto its side, while westbound traffic on the 401 remained unaffected, according to local reports.
