India, Aug. 3 -- Schools and colleges across 11 districts in Kerala will remain closed on Monday, August 3, as heavy rain continues to batter the state. District administrations announced the holiday as a precaution after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast more rainfall and issued a yellow alert for several districts.

The decision was taken to ensure the safety of students amid persistent rainfall, waterlogging, flooding and strong winds affecting several parts of the state.
