India, Nov. 6 -- Equatorial Guinea goalkeeper Jesus Owono has been omitted from the squad for this month's 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers following the tragic death of Tenerife striker Jesus de Miguel. The decision comes after an unfortunate on-field incident during a Spanish second-division fixture between Andorra and Tenerife on Monday, in which Owono and De Miguel collided, leaving the forward with serious injuries.

The 30-year-old De Miguel was rushed to hospital and admitted to intensive care but passed away on Tuesday morning. Following the heartbreaking incident, Equatorial Guinea's football federation confirmed Owono's absence from the upcoming international fixtures.
