India, Nov. 6 -- The post-election political turmoil in Israel has reached an important turning point after the Arab-led coalition group the Joint List said it will back opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot to form the next government. The announcement will likely have major implications for coalition talks after the ruling coalition of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu failed to win a majority seat in the Knesset during the parliamentary elections on October 27.

By backing the opposition leader with a recommendation to President Isaac Herzog, the Joint List has boosted Eisenkot's parliamentary support to 67, surpassing the 61 seats required for a majority in Israel's 120-member parliament.
