India, June 14 -- A widespread spell of severe weather is expected to affect large parts of India on June 14, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing heavy rainfall and thunderstorm warnings for 19 states and Union Territories. The overall weather setup is expected to bring severe downpours, sharp lightning activity and gusty winds in the range of 80-90 kmph, which may create a real risk for people in northern, eastern, northeastern and southern pockets of the country. Local authorities have basically urged residents to avoid travel and to stay indoors during the thunderstorm time period, while also keeping a close eye on official weather updates as it moves through the regions.
