India, Oct. 2 -- India will look to put its difficult opening day behind it when the women's rugby sevens team takes on Malaysia in Pool E match at the Asian Games 2026 on Friday, October 2.

India began its Pool E campaign against Hong Kong China but suffered a 33-7 defeat. Hong Kong took control early and led 21-0 at half-time before India finally got on the scoreboard in the second half. The result left India with work to do in its remaining pool fixtures.

The team then faced defending champions China later in the day and endured another heavy defeat, losing 43-5. With Malaysia also having suffered a defeat against Hong Kong China, Friday's meeting gives both teams an opportunity to finish the pool stage on a stronger note.
