India, Sept. 27 -- Virat Kohli struck his 80th ODI half-century in the opening game against the West Indies in Thiruvananthapuram. The Indian batting legend now has a fifty in three consecutive international games, including two in England. As Kohli breached the 59-run mark, he also became only the second batter after his idol Sachin Tendulkar to record 15000 runs in the ODI format.

Kohli arrived at the crease following the dismissal of Rohit Sharma, with Shubman Gill unbeaten at the other end. The Indian skipper also completed his century in the 1st ODI, as West Indies struggled to find a way out.
