India, July 28 -- For decades, the Annapurna Circuit was described as a long Himalayan passage. Trekkers began in Nepal's lower valleys, climbed through changing landscapes, crossed Thorong La, and continued towards the Kali Gandaki.
That route still exists, but the experience has evolved.
Roads have reached farther into the Marsyangdi and Kali Gandaki valleys. Travel times have shortened, village economies have shifted, and many visitors now have fewer days available.
