About a decade ago, I had the privilege of treating a remarkable 98-year-old gentleman. While his age was extraordinary, it was not the number that left a lasting impression on me. What stood out was his infectious personality. He possessed one of the most pleasant demeanours I have ever encountered. His wit was legendary, sometimes delightfully wicked, at other times charmingly self-deprecating. But above all, he had the rare ability to laugh with his whole heart.
