India, Sept. 15 -- FIDE has officially confirmed the venue, format, schedule and prize pool for the much-awaited World Championship clash between reigning champion D Gukesh and challenger Javokhir Sindarov. The encounter is set to make chess history, with both players expected to be 20 years old when they face each other across the board, making it the youngest World Championship match ever. Gukesh etched his name into the record books in 2024 by becoming the youngest world champion after defeating China's Ding Liren, while Sindarov earned his shot at the crown by winning the Candidates tournament earlier this year.
