It is the beginning of a period when homes, streets and entire neighbourhoods make space for Lord Ganesha. From decorated pandals and morning prayers to modaks, aartis and massive immersion processions, the festival changes the rhythm of cities for several days.

In 2026, devotees will observe Ganesh Chaturthi on Monday, September 14, with the festival beginning with the installation and worship of Lord Ganesha idols.
