India, Sept. 16 -- The new fuel crisis in the world is shifting its effects from the oil market to the streets, business and transportation networks. Even though Brent crude has maintained prices above $100 per barrel because of interruptions related to the conflict in the broader Middle East on September 11, Brent closed at $104.61 and the International Energy Agency predicted that global oil supply would be reduced by 5.7 million barrels per day in 2026, which amounts to about 6%. The impact is already visible in Syria, Guatemala, Indonesia and Portugal, where higher fuel costs have triggered protests, road blockades and shortages.
