India, Oct. 9 -- WASHINGTON - The US military is preparing to carry out its first execution by firing squad since World War II, following an announcement by US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth that the capital sentence of convicted Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan will be carried out as a public event.

Speaking during a broadcast interview, Hegseth confirmed that the execution is scheduled for December 3 at 1 pm at the Texas military base where Hasan opened fire in 2009, killing 13 people and injuring 32 others.

The decision follows formal approval from US President Donald Trump, marking a significant escalation in the enforcement of military capital punishment.
