India, Aug. 19 -- Alex Vindman is trailing State Representative Angie Nixon in the Democratic primary for Florida's US Senate seat despite having spent roughly ten times more money on the race, according to campaign finance reports filed with the Federal Election Commission.

Vindman's campaign had spent $9 million after raising $16.3 million, the filings show, while Nixon's campaign had spent $709,000 after bringing in $975,000. The gap places one of the most lopsided financial mismatches of this year's primary season alongside one of its narrowest results, with Nixon holding a lead of several percentage points over the retired army lieutenant colonel as vote counting continued into Tuesday night.
