India, Oct. 1 -- FD Interest Rate Rules Change From October 1: For people parking very large sums in bank fixed deposits, October 1, 2026 marks a significant change in the way interest rates are disclosed. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has introduced revised rules for bulk deposits that require banks to make applicable rates publicly available each working day and follow the rates disclosed on their websites.

The change mainly targets large deposits rather than ordinary retail FDs. For scheduled commercial banks, a bulk deposit generally starts at Rs.3 crore, meaning most people investing a few lakh rupees in a conventional FD will not see a direct change from these rules.
