India, July 6 -- Mindanao, Philippines Earthquake Today: An offshore earthquake measuring 5.8 magnitude struck Mindanao in the southern Philippines on Monday, prompting authorities to closely monitor the situation. The tremor occurred during the afternoon at a shallow depth of 10 kilometres beneath the seabed. According to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) and the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the earthquake did not trigger a tsunami warning, and officials said they do not expect significant damage or strong aftershocks.
The latest quake comes as earthquake activity continues to keep countries across the Pacific Ring of Fire on alert.
