India, Sept. 20 -- Contractual drivers are seeking a hike from Rs 862 to Rs 2,000 per day.

An analysis of publicly available contract and budget data shows that the reported Rs 862 daily wage of contractual DTC drivers is equivalent to 7.2-8.9 per cent of the gross daily payment for operating an electric bus under a publicly disclosed private-bus contract.

Delhi's contracted electric-bus programme involves several private companies and consortiums, including JBM Ecolife Mobility, the Intact Transport-PMI Electro Mobility consortium, GreenCell Mobility and SWITCH Mobility, the electric-vehicle arm of the Hinduja Group.
