India, Nov. 5 -- US President Donald Trump has ruled out sacking Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth after the Republican Party lost seats in the 2026 midterm elections. Trump defended his performance and said he had no plans to sack him when speaking to reporters on Wednesday, November 4. Republican Senator Ted Cruz warned earlier today that the Democrats may try to impeach Hegseth.

"No. I think he's doing a very good job," said Trump, when asked if he was going to consider firing his Defence Secretary after the Republicans faced major losses in the elections on November 3.
