India, Aug. 16 -- Delhi's new master plan must balance housing expansion with affordability, infrastructure and flood protection.

Delhi's next two decades of growth are being mapped out on paper, but the real test of the city's new Master Plan will be whether it can accommodate millions more people without making the capital more congested, unaffordable and vulnerable to flooding. The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has approved the Master Plan for Delhi 2047, a long-term blueprint that estimates the city will require about 40 lakh additional homes by 2047.
