India, Sept. 23 -- The Delhi government on Wednesday approved the Upliftment and Rozgar for Women/Transgender by approving Green e-auto (DURGA) scheme, aimed at creating safe, dignified and sustainable employment opportunities for women and transgender persons in the capital. The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.

Under the first phase of the scheme, 1,300 pink electric autos will be allocated, with 1,170 earmarked for women and 130 for transgender beneficiaries. announcing the initiative, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the scheme is intended to promote economic empowerment while improving safety, inclusion and last-mile connectivity in Delhi's public transport system.
