The Congress nominee currently holds a lead of 1,786 votes over the BJP candidate after continuous swings during the initial rounds. The by-election for this Madhya Pradesh assembly seat was held on July 30, recording a 71.44% voter turnout. It was necessitated following the disqualification of the previous Congress MLA, Rajendra Bharti, due to a criminal conviction.
