India, Aug. 28 -- Three major UK airports have been targeted in a cyberattack that may have exposed the personal data of around 8.7 million customers, the operator of the sites has confirmed, though it says passenger safety and flight operations were not affected.

Manchester Airports Group (MAG), which owns and operates Manchester Airport, London Stansted Airport and East Midlands Airport, said on Thursday that it had been the victim of a cyber security incident carried out by an unauthorised third party. In a statement, MAG said it had "immediately contained the risk" and was working with specialist advisers to protect its customers and systems, adding that it had informed and was cooperating with the relevant authorities.
