India, July 1 -- The Centre is likely to move the Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill, which proposes the automatic removal of the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers and other public representatives if they remain under arrest for 30 consecutive days in cases involving serious offences, for passage during the Monsoon Session of Parliament beginning 21 July, sources told The Sunday Guardian.

The proposed constitutional amendment seeks to ensure that holders of high public office do not continue to discharge executive responsibilities while remaining in prolonged judicial custody in cases carrying a punishment of five years or more.
