India, Aug. 11 -- This Is Us star Chrissy Metz has opened up about her long and very public relationship with her weight. The actress, who became widely known for playing Kate Pearson in the hit series, recently revealed that she has been taking a GLP-1 medication to help manage her cravings.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Metz explained that her decision came after years of trying different approaches, including diets and therapy. She also pointed to perimenopause and a family history of obesity as factors in her decision to explore medication.
