India, June 29 -- The NFL community has been left stunned after former running back Chris Johnson shared a deeply personal health update. The three-time Pro Bowler revealed that he has been diagnosed with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease, saying he received the diagnosis last year at the age of 39.

Johnson explained that he first realised something was wrong when the grip in his right hand began to weaken. As the symptoms persisted, medical evaluations eventually confirmed ALS, a life-changing diagnosis that he has now chosen to speak about publicly.
