India, July 28 -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Chandigarh, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall on Tuesday and Wednesday. The fresh spell of rain is expected to lower temperatures further while increasing the risk of waterlogging, traffic disruptions, localised flooding and power outages in several parts of the city.

How Much Rain Has Chandigarh Received?

The city recorded 40.8 mm of rainfall till 8:30 am on Monday. Since the start of the monsoon season on June 1, Chandigarh has received 289.9 mm of rainfall, which is 23.7% below the seasonal average of 359.6 mm for the same period. However, July alone has already received 225.6 mm of rain, slightly above the normal monthly average of 224....
