India, July 1 -- A rule regarding the minimum wage in California will be effective from 1st July, 2026. The updated rule is meant for healthcare workers, including nurses, nursing assistants, technicians, custodians, food service workers, and other support staff. However, updated wages will vary as per the location and workplace type.

Employers in California should brace to pay higher wages from 1st July, 2026. As many jurisdictions in the Golden State have announced that they are increasing the minimum wages per hour. Hence it's the responsibility of the employers to update their payroll systems accordingly and they will also have to confirm that they are indeed paying the highest wage rate, as per the new rules.
