India, Oct. 5 -- British Airways Flight BA295 Declares Emergency: A routine transatlantic journey from London to Chicago took an unexpected turn on Monday when passengers aboard British Airways flight BA295 found themselves on a flight path back toward the UK instead of across the Atlantic. The aircraft issued the internationally recognised 7700 emergency code while flying over Ireland and dropped to about 9,000 feet before turning around.

Flight-tracking data showed the aircraft later crossed back toward Britain and ultimately returned to London Heathrow. The exact reason for the emergency has not been publicly disclosed.
