India, June 28 -- Bengal needs a cultural renaissance to revive spirit of perseverance, selflessness and innovation.

Many Bengalis of the present generation may not even know how profoundly critical was the day of 20th June, 1947 for the people of West Bengal. On this very day, a resolution was passed in Bengal Legislative Assembly of pre-partition India that ensured the creation of West Bengal, and paved way for it becoming part of India, instead of Pakistan.
