India, Aug. 15 -- Pakistan Test captain Babar Azam suffered a scare ahead of the first Test against England after being struck on his right hand during the team's warm-up game against a Professional County Club Select XI. Babar retired hurt after scoring just five runs on the second day of the practice match in England.

The Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed that Babar will not take any further part in the warm-up fixture, describing the decision as precautionary. The batter is expected to resume training on Monday as Pakistan prepare for the opening Test against England at Headingley on August 19.
