India, Sept. 27 -- Endgame is back on top of the domestic box office, nearly seven years after the Marvel blockbuster first conquered theaters. The film's new theatrical version, Avengers: Endgame Encore, opened at No. 1 on Friday with an estimated $11.2 million from 3,060 North American locations. Industry estimates put its opening weekend at around $26 million.

The result comes during a busy theatrical weekend, with several new films competing for audiences. Yet a movie first released in 2019 has managed to lead the box office again, helped by Marvel nostalgia and, more importantly, new footage connected to Avengers: Doomsday.
