India, July 28 -- The flood situation in Assam has improved, with water levels receding in several areas and the number of affected people falling to 4.45 lakh from over 5 lakh earlier. However, floods continue to impact six districts Sivasagar, Golaghat, Charaideo, Jorhat, Nagaon and Kamrup (Metropolitan). According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), 4,45,495 people are still affected, while the death toll remains unchanged at 68, with no new fatalities reported on Tuesday. Among them, Charaideo remains the worst-hit district with 1.88 lakh affected people, followed by Sivasagar with 1.44 lakh and Jorhat with over 74,000 affected residents.
