India, Sept. 30 -- The Indian women's compound archery team clinched the gold medal at the Asian Games after getting past China in the final. Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Chikitha Taniparthi and Prithika Pradeep had earlier booked their place in the title clash with a thrilling 234-233 victory over South Korea in the semifinals at Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park.

India's semifinal opponents, Park Jungyoon, Park Yerin and Kang Yeonseo, pushed the contest down to the wire, but the Indian trio held their nerve to secure a narrow win. The gold continues India's strong run in the event, with the women's compound team having also topped the podium at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou.
