India, May 26 -- In a significant move aimed at easing the financial strain on the state's agricultural sector, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay announced on Monday a comprehensive crop loan waiver for farmers who have availed credit through cooperative banks. The initiative is set to provide immediate relief to more than 14 lakh farmers, marking a key fulfilment of a promise made by the TVK chief during his campaign leading up to the April 2026 Assembly elections.
