India, July 4 -- American tennis player Nathan Ponwith has accepted a one-month suspension after breaching tennis anti-doping regulations. The 28-year-old, who previously reached a career-high ATP singles ranking of 367 in June 2023, returned a positive test for cannabis during a World Tennis Tour event held in San Jose, Costa Rica in February 2026.

Cannabis is classified as a prohibited substance in-competition under tennis' anti-doping code, leading to disciplinary action following the test result. The sanction means Ponwith will now serve a brief suspension as per the sport's regulations before being eligible to return to competitive action.
