India, June 14 -- On 4 June 2026, the CJI delivered a lecture on AI and law in London. The event was intended to be a formal academic engagement. Instead, it was disrupted when Kalpana Wilson attempted to raise issues completely unrelated to the lecture's subject matter.
What was supposed to be an academic discussion on the impacts of artificial intelligence on international law, unexpectedly became a case study in the increasingly contentious intersection of academia, activism and contemporary Indian politics.
