India, Sept. 24 -- Almost four decades after A Different World first introduced viewers to life at the fictional Hillman College, Netflix is bringing the world back with a new generation of students. The new series, which premiered on September 24, returns to the same historically Black college while introducing a completely new group of young characters.

At the centre of the story is Deborah Wayne, the daughter of original characters Dwayne Wayne and Whitley Gilbert. As she begins her freshman year at Hillman, Deborah has to figure out what she wants from college while also dealing with the expectations that come with being the daughter of two well known Hillman alumni.
