India, May 30 -- China is reportedly carrying out one of its largest military infrastructure projects in recent years, according to newly analysed satellite images. The images show extensive construction activity near some of the country's key nuclear missile bases in the remote Xinjiang region, raising fresh questions about Beijing's long-term strategic plans.

Security analysts say the scale of the project is unlike anything they have seen before and could significantly strengthen China's ability to respond in the event of a military conflict.
