US, March 19 -- Anima Anandkumar, the Bren Professor of Computing and Mathematical Sciences, has been appointed to the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General's Scientific Advisory Board, which brings together distinguished researchers from around the globe to advise UN leaders on breakthroughs in science and technology. Established in August 2023, the 15-person board provides "independent insights on trends at the intersection of science, technology, ethics, governance and sustainable development," according to the organization's website.
